Weekend Happenings 10.16.17

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a weekend recap post, but we had a pretty good one, so it seemed like a good idea to share about it!

Friday was low key, we made a simple chicken and rice dinner, and after Ollie went to bed we watched the movie Due Date, it’s an older one but we never saw it and it was on Amazon streaming, so we figured why not.

Saturday we made our annual visit to our favorite pumpkin patch, Pinehaven Farms in Wyoming, MN. There is just so much to do and see, we easily spend a few hours without trouble! They have the cutest petting zoo area where you can feed goats, sheep, cows and alpacas. Ollie absolutely loves the goats.

After we were done saying hello to the animals we went and watched them fire the Pumpkin Cannon. You may remember I’m not a fan of loud noises, but this one is not loud. It’s pneumatic and just kind of goes “poof”, but let me tell you, that pumpkin goes FAR! When the pumpkin show was over we hopped on the wagon out to the pumpkin patch to pick out a pumpkin. Much like last year, Ollie decided he wanted a green one.

We took the wagon back and then went to buy our pumpkins and headed out to get some lunch. We always stop in a restaurant in Forest Lake called Norman Quacks on our way back from the pumpkin patch. I love this Fall tradition of ours so much!

The rest of Saturday we were a little more industrious, Ollie hung out with Nate’s parents for a little bit while we did our quarterly Traction review. We chose to go to a coffee shop that just opened not far from us called Five Watt coffee. It was decent! When we were done adulting we headed back to have dinner with Ollie and Nate’s parents and sister. Then we went home and Ollie went to bed and we chose to stream another movie, Guardians of the Galaxy 2, which I actually enjoyed even more than the first one. I love Baby Groot so much.

Sunday we got up early and were thankful the rain had stopped because we had our annual family pictures with my friend Erin. It was very cold out, but I think we managed to get some good ones. I’ll be sure to share them here when she’s done with them! We headed home and while Nate made breakfast and cleaned our kitchen, my mom came over and helped me go through my closet. It’s needed a huge overhaul for awhile now. I’ve let go of the smaller clothes I bought when I was at my lower weight a couple of years ago and I’m embracing my body where it is at. But unless I’m living in leggings all winter this may mean I need a few new pairs of pants.

My mom left and then we had a late breakfast/early lunch before I headed over to Nate’s sister’s house to help throw a baby shower for their cousin Maggie. Baby Violet has already arrived, so we threw a shower where we encouraged folks to bring books to stock their bookshelf. I had a shower like that after Ollie was born too and it was great. Anyway, Violet is a total doll, we had a great time passing her around and getting some baby snuggles!

I went home to my boys and we went grocery shopping. Normally I don’t like shopping on Sundays because the stores are nuts, but ours wasn’t too bad and we were in and out pretty fast. Then we made spaghetti and relaxed for the rest of the evening, watched some more Stranger Things and I painted my nails.

Overall it was the perfect Fall weekend I think! And now we’re off and running into another week. I’m dragging a bit, I think Ollie had a bit too much fun this weekend and wanted to continue the party at 2:00 in the morning, so we made it a slumber party. But I’m still quite tired! Oh well. How was your weekend?

  1. Sounds like a perfect weekend! I LOVED the second Guardians so much better. I laughed so hard when they were all talking with Mantis. Nothing wrong with Green Pumpkins 🙂 . The Pumpkin Patch looks like so much fun! Plus babies, painted nails and family pictures?! Busy but wonderful! Have a great week Beth!!

  2. That sounds like a fun weekend to me! I also took Jona to this place called Deanna Rose that has animals, etc. Jona does NOT like the goats though.. they’re too aggressive for him. So funny. Also, I may be biased but baby Violet looks like such a sweetie. It’s making me want to cry though–I remember when my Violet was that tiny and now she’s almost 1. Noooo!
