Recapping the Weekend

Once again I’m bringing you a weekend recap post today because it was a good one and therefore, I want to share about it! Nate was back from his work trip and we got some wonderful family time in.

Friday night I kicked things off with a bang and had my ladies over for a Lularoe pop-up. I made some sangria and we had a lovely time trying things on. I managed to walk away with a few new goodies, so that was pretty awesome. We were all wrapped up and cleaned up by 9:00 and then Nate was home by 9:45, so it all worked out well! He and I sat up for awhile and caught up with each other before we headed to bed.

Saturday morning I let Ollie sleep in a bit and then when he got up I took him to the window and showed him that daddy’s car was back and he got the hugest smile on his face. Nate got up a few minutes later and the boys enjoyed a sweet reunion. We bought one of the kid versions of the Amazon Fire during the Prime sale, so they spent some time getting that set up and playing with it a bit. Sitting there watching the two of them I seriously thought my heart might burst.

We went disc golfing before it got too hot outside. Then we decided to keep up our new Saturday tradition and grabbed some lunch to bring to a taproom. This time we went to Headflyer Brewing in NE Minneapolis. It’s a newer taproom and it’s very kid friendly. They have tons of games and toys. We played Oregon Trail and then we taught Ollie how to play Yahtzee and he actually kind of got the hang of it with help! We headed home for a rest after that and then decided to go play at the Children’s Museum for a bit since Nate still hadn’t had a chance to see the renovations and new exhibits. Ollie loved showing his daddy around the new stuff! After the museum we had dinner at Brasa in St. Paul and then headed home and crashed! It was a full day!

Sunday we decided to be a little adventurous. It wasn’t as hot outside, so when we woke up we thought we’d head out to a flea market we found a few years ago about an hour northwest of us. It’s one of the biggest ones in Minnesota. But as we’re getting closer we’re finding it odd that there isn’t a lot of folks around. We pulled into the parking lot to discover it was the one Sunday of the entire summer that it was CLOSED. So we turned around and hit up a smaller flea market on the way back to town and found Ollie a little truck so he was happy at least! Then we had lunch at place called Mort’s Deli and headed back home.  I packed up a couple of bags of clothes and went to a clothing swap I was invited to. I’ll talk more about this on Thrifty Tuesday. While I was gone the boys played paper airplanes.  I came home and crashed for a bit. We decided to take advantage of the nice day and walked to the park for a little while and threw frisbees and a football around. Then we came home and grilled some brats and hot dogs for dinner. Ollie went to bed and we watched another episode of Orange is the New Black while I painted my nails.

We filled our two days to the brim, but it never felt like too much. We were simply enjoying our time together! And isn’t that what weekends are all about?

  1. YES! That is totally what weekends are all about 🙂 Awww, that pic of your hubby/Ollie together with the new Fire is so stinkin cute <3 Ollie must've been happy to have poppa home again!

I love that you can bring your lunch to a taproom! How neat! I don't think we have anything like that here, but I could be totally wrong. Will have to look into this 🙂

Sounds like you had a really fun weekend, with girlfriends, and a museum trip, and flea market (I LOVE those too! Went to a big one yesterday in Woodstock). Hope you have a great week, momma! XOXO
