Welcome Spring!

Looking out my window today it’s gray, foggy, damp and a little chilly. Instead of dwelling on that I’ll just look back on the weekend because the weather on Saturday was absolute perfection. It was Minnesota Spring at it’s best, there was no April Fooling at all!

Friday I had the early shift at work, but the nice part about that is being done early as well. I started my weekend off right with a hair cut. We had a nice little dinner at home and after Ollie went to bed we watched a movie we hadn’t seen in years – Fun With Dick and Jane.

Saturday dawned bright and warm. We made our coffee stop and then headed to the disc golf course for the first time this year. We had a blast, it was a decent first round after not throwing for months. Ollie mostly rode in his stroller but he did get out and throw a couple of times too and he really enjoyed some time on the playground when we finished the round. And with daddy’s help he also climbed a tree.

We headed home for a hot dog lunch. Then while Ollie napped (or well, fought nap for an hour before falling asleep in my bed instead…sigh. More to come on this in another post soon) we sat outside on the deck and just enjoyed the sunshine for awhile. When Ollie woke up then he came out and joined us and helped us clean out our tomato beds so they’ll be all ready for spring planting. We cleaned up the yard a bit as well and then headed to the park for a bit. At the park we discovered a gnome house in a tree! Too cute.

Saturday evening we made some pork chops and grilled veggies for dinner. After Ollie went to bed we settled in with another movie, this time we streamed Passengers. I actually enjoyed it quite a bit considering I’m not a huge fun of sci-fi normally.

Sunday was a bit more chill, the weather wasn’t quite as nice but that was ok, we had plans to have pancakes over at my sister-in-law’s house and then Nate worked on our taxes in the afternoon while I fought to get Ollie to nap again but I enjoyed some nice snuggles with him once he did. Then we decided to treat ourselves to a pizza dinner at a place near us as a way to round out the weekend.

It was just one of those lovely weekends that left us feeling relaxed and refreshed and so ready for more spring weather to come. Welcome Spring. Please feel free to stay awhile.

  1. I’m definitely seeing spring pop up in little bits! On my drive to work this morning, I noticed some pinks and purples that weren’t there last week. I’m so excited for the weather to turn!

  2. Saturday was a perfect day to be outside and enjoying the gorgeous weather!!! So glad that you were able to get out to the disc golf course this weekend. I love the picture of Ollie on the tree!

  3. What a lovely spring weekend, Beth! One of our local parks has a little “gnom house” in a tree as well and I love checking it out every once in a while, because sometimes someone seems to make changes (like painting the door or putting other little trinkets around it!).

    Happy April!

  4. My mom sent me a picture of some… flowers… (I’m terrible at the names of the types of flowers. And dogs for that matter), so spring must indeed be here! It’s got me craving burgers. Barbecued of course. We’ll have to get the barbecue out of storage asap! Glad your weekend was as park filled as mine!
