I think all weekends should be four days long. But maybe with a little less holiday action, at least some of the time! Anyway, here’s a little recap of our holiday weekend.
Ollie had a pretty nasty cold most all of last week, which was kind of a bummer, but we made the most of it anyway. I did a 6k with my sister in law to start off the day. We found a race that supported a local food shelf as we were both feeling called to give back a bit in light of the election. It doesn’t hurt that we burned a ton of calories before our big meal! After the race Ollie and I went to my parents and I made an apple pie. Then he napped while Nate and I finished preparing the meal for his family. We had a very nice feast with them!
Friday was my birthday and Ollie was still pretty under the weather which was a super bummer. But, he was willing to hang out with his grandpa while my mom and I did a little shopping, nothing too crazy, but there were some good sales at Lakeshore Learning and we bought a few presents for Ollie’s birthday and Christmas. After lunch with my parents, Ollie and headed home and he took a little nap while I managed to stream the first episode and a half of the Gilmore Girls revival. I haven’t finished, so no spoilers yet! In the evening we went out for dinner with my parents to one of my favorite restaurants for dinner. Overall it was a decent day, I may have further reflections on turning another year older later this week.
Starting the Christmas season
Once my birthday passes I pretty much dive into the Christmas season. So on Saturday, even though it was Nate’s birthday, he was a good sport and took us to get our Christmas tree. Saturday afternoon was full of Christmas carols and decorating the house. I’m so pleased with our tree this year, it’s full and gorgeous and, knock on wood, so far my cats have left it alone!
The rest of the weekend was full of a little more birthday celebrating with Nate’s family, meeting up with Jen for a drink and a chat, and streaming movies and a little more Gilmore Girls. It wasn’t the most exciting Thanksgiving/Birthday weekend ever, but there isn’t anything wrong with that. I spent time with the people I love the most and that is really what is most important! I hope you all had a great weekend as well!
