Beth, Throwback Thursday

#TBT Wrapping Things Up

I’ve been giving this some thought and as much fun as I have been having with this little project, today will be my final Throwback Thursday journal installment.  I have a good reason for it, today’s posts will pretty much bring me to when I started dating Nate.  It feels like a good place to kind of end it since we stayed together and eventually got married!  I have had so much fun going down memory lane with these posts and I hope you’ve all enjoyed getting a peek at my teenaged brain. So, without further ado, here are the final TBT journal entries!

Well the Follies (church talent show) are over. I got a lot of compliments on my song. Sara, D and Lauren came to the show on Friday and then we all went out to Bridgemans together. It was fun. I envy Leah. Her and Joe are going out and I’m jealous. I want a sweet boyfriend like that! Oh well. Someday. I’ll keep wishing! <3 Beth

I’m so confused. Jenni and Anna were talking to D and he said he maybe likes me again. And maybe I want him to. But I’m not sure. I’m not sure he really even means it.  We’re still good friends, but he did break my heart twice. I don’t know. Life is confusing. <3 Beth

Sorry to neglect you. Not much has been happening lately. Turns out D doesn’t like me, but I was cool with it. I had a ton of fun at Jenni’s birthday party a couple of weeks ago with Nate. We have some classes together.  I never thought of him romantically before, but he’s really nice and fun to talk to.  It might be interesting. Anyway, that’s my life. New Orleans trip is a week from tomorrow!!! Gotta go. <3 Me

T-minus 3 days and counting to New Orleans! I’m so excited, I can’t wait! Tomorrow is the choir concert. Today mom and I went shopping. That was fun. Sadie Hawkins is in a week and a half. Lauren is asking D. I want to go but I don’t know who to ask. Oh well. Better go. More later. <3 Me

March 22, 1998

Well I’m home from New Orleans. I gotta make this short cause it’s late – The Big News is – Nate and I are going out as of 12:30 am today. This has been the very best day of my life! Details very soon. <3 Me!

March 23, 1998

Well where to begin? I’m trying to keep this short because I’ll remember the details forever. Anyway, all during the trip Nate and I were flirting.  Like a lot. On the train ride down he said he was feeling goofy and gave me a foot massage. We kept bumping into each other on purpose the whole time we were there. So finally at 12:30 am on Sunday morning on the train back (cause who sleeps on a train?) we decided to be a couple (or a “thing” as he put it). Life is so sweet I can’t even describe it. But I gotta go. The trip was so fun!! <3 Beth

And so it began. I can’t believe a month before we got together I actually considered going down the “D” path again!  D and I did remain friends for awhile after Nate and I started dating, but he ended up saying some things to people about us that wasn’t very nice (maybe out of jealousy, who knows) and he and I had a little falling out.  We mended fences before graduation, but didn’t really stay in touch.  I heard he got married a couple of years ago and I wish him well and no ill will. I love how I went from “maybe I’ll consider Nate” to pretty much “oh hey, we’re dating” in the span of just a few weeks.  It was clearly the best consideration I ever made.

Thanks again for following along these last few months as I re-visited my youth and thanks again to Laura from One Girl, Two Cities for the inspiration!  This was a ton of fun. Starting next week I’ll be working back to Monday, Wednesday, Friday posting schedule. Onward and upward!
