Holy cats, it’s May! How did that happen so fast? April zoomed by. I guess that happens when you go out of town for an entire week! Anyway, I haven’t done a weekend recap in awhile and we had a pretty good one, so I thought I’d share about it today.
Friday started off with a Prince tribute show. The Fitzgerald Theatre in St. Paul has a series called Films at the Fitz and so they threw together a Purple Rain showing. Local band Nooky Jones performed before the movie, they sold drinks called The Purple One and then we watched the movie on a nice giant screen. It was a ton of fun and just another way to honor Prince’s memory, it was almost a spiritual type experience!
Saturday morning we got up early and took Ollie to spend the day with my parents so Nate and I could go to a Yoga at the Brewery event put on by Get Knit. Get Knit has been sponsoring Yoga at the Brewery events at taprooms all over the Twin Cities. This particular one was held at Insight Brewing in Northeast Minneapolis. We did an hour of yoga and then afterward got to enjoy a flight of beer. We decided to make a day of it and after Insight went over to a newer restaurant called The Draft Horse for lunch. We shared a delicious sandwich and soup, all made with local ingredients. Then Nate decided to work on the yard a bit until we had to go get Ollie. After we picked up Ollie, we brought him out to our favorite Italian restaurant for dinner.
Sunday we celebrated Russian Easter with Nate’s family. His grandfather was Russian Orthodox and even though he passed away a few years ago, we have continued celebrating Russian Easter in his honor. It was a gorgeous day outside, so the kids had fun with an egg hunt and Ollie had a blast throwing his discs with his cousins, especially his cousin Sophia who is only a year older than him. It will be fun to watch them grow up together. We ate way too much food but it was all delicious.
The rest of Sunday we were pretty lazy and it felt pretty good! Overall it was just the best kind of weekend, family, fun, relaxing. You can’t beat that. April was busy and May looks to be more of the same – but I love our crazy, chaotic life!
