This week’s theme is brought to you by yours truly for Thrift Style Thursday. We did this theme last year too, but I thought it would be fun to do it again. I know in most states that kids have already been back in school for a couple of weeks already, but here in Minnesota, most of our kids started on Tuesday of this week. We’ve just always gone back after Labor Day – I think partly because of the State Fair! Anyway, I thought it would be fun to pull together a look that is reminiscent of something I’d wear on the first day of school. Last year I even put up a bunch of first day of school pictures for fun too – check out that post on the old blog over here if you want a laugh. Now on to my look for today!
When I think of school days, I immediately think of plaid. I always wore a skirt or dress on the first day of school too, so I also thought of a skirt. I had this one paired with a sweater that just wasn’t working right for me, so Nate helped me out and suggested this denim jacket. I think it looks great and also kind of edgy with the boots – it’s cool and drizzly today, so I decided to give my boots some love early this year. Usually I wait until October to pull out the boots if I can help it!
I also thought my How Does She Do It bag from Stella and Dot is a great messenger style bag that would be a great school bag if I was still in school. I do often use it to tote my laptop to and from work, does that count?
Jacket – Old Navy (thrifted), Skirt – LOFT (thrifted)
Boots – Target, Bag – Stella and Dot (from friend)
So there you go! I wouldn’t go back to school for anything if we’re being honest. I recently had to do some logic tests and things for a work thing and I was like, whoa. I have been out of school a very long time! Thankfully we have a few years before Ollie is in school and dealing with homework, mama isn’t ready for that!
