So I hate to break it to you, but it’s August. In fact, August is almost already half over. I know, I know. Why am I being so glass half empty, Debbie Downer like? I don’t know why, it just feels like summer is already winding down in some ways. The good news is that there is still half of August left and we are typically lucky enough to enjoy nice weather here long into September and October, so there is much more summer to enjoy – but it is crazy to think that so much of it is already in the rear view mirror.
We’ve been truly living this summer. I wrote a post at the beginning of the summer that I wanted to have long days outside, falling into bed smelling of sunscreen, chlorine and bonfire smoke. We’ve been doing that pretty well I think! I think it helps that for the most part, the weather has been pretty nice and average. We haven’t had days on end of extreme heat. We haven’t had multiple days of rain. It’s been warm, sunny and pretty much delightful.
It’s funny, people ask what we’ve been up to and I feel like on the one hand, there isn’t one specific thing that has kept us busy and yet we’ve been busy. Disc golf, beer brewing, barbecues at friends houses, meeting up with friends at taprooms and patios, birthday parties, beer festivals, swimming lessons, blog events, happy hours, playdates, tree trimming, yard work, getting ready for a new roof, bike riding, evenings at the park. That’s my list. So I guess when I read that, I can see how we really have been busy. But it’s a good kind of busy. It’s a “we’re out living life and enjoying it” kind of busy. I seriously have no complaints.
There are things we haven’t done yet this summer that I wanted to do and I think we still will have time to do some of them. I have no regrets about any of this summer right now, if it suddenly became winter tomorrow I would be sad of course because who wants snow, but I wouldn’t look at this summer with any regrets. But since we shouldn’t be dealing with that annoying white fluffy stuff for month yet, I’m going to just keep living it up. I hope you’re all making the most of your summer as well!
